Chinese state media have accused the U.S. government of being “hysterical,” “laughably juvenile,” and “losing its calm” after U.S. fighter jets shot down four objects, including a Chinese spy balloon, this month.

Columns in China Daily, People’s Daily, and Global Times mocked the United States, opining that Washington made a “strong case that the F-22 is invincible when its enemies are balloons” and that “it looks pretty tough in the face of balloons.”

This mockery is darkly ironic, given that the leadership in China is itself guilty of a most extreme case of hysterical overreaction when it comes to prisoners of conscience. Over the past 23 years, the communist leadership in Beijing has committed forced organ harvesting of peaceful, defenseless Falun Gong practitioners in China.

Falun Gong is a spiritual discipline of self-improvement that has posed no threat to any government in the world, including the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Its core teachings abide by the tenets of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance. Despite the absence of any threat from the group of meditators, late CCP leader Jiang Zemin completely lost his calm. He started a nationwide persecution campaign of Falun Gong adherents in 1999 and initiated a system of mass murder via the removal of vital organs.

The Chinese op-eds ridicule the United States for a supposed disproportionate use of force against the balloons, but it is the CCP that must finally take responsibility for the disproportionate use of force in torturing and killing vulnerable Falun Gong practitioners, often in solitary confinement where groups of police officers torture defenseless people to death or take them to operation rooms where their bodies are pillaged for organs to be transplanted.

In the case of the balloons, the United States shot down four inanimate objects, while in China, the CCP has killed an unknown number of innocent people for their organs.

Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH) states unequivocally that forced organ harvesting is nefarious and evil. The CCP ought to revisit its brutal persecution of innocents rather than offer misplaced, sardonic criticism of the United States for defending its own airspace.

DAFOH calls upon the CCP to immediately end the forced organ harvesting of living Falun Gong practitioners and other prisoners of conscience.

It is also time that the rest of the free world calls out the CCP for its horrific policy of forced organ harvesting. This must not continue while the world watches in silence. This is not a question of policies or partisan affiliations—this concerns all of humankind.
